A graduate of Economics,Cherian hails from the well–known Karippaparampil family of kerala,South India,which has made significant contributions to India in the freedom movement , in politics, in public administration and in professional services. After his training in banking and business at North Park, Chicago, Cherian has served in  the National Bank of Detroit, USA, for 3 years. Currently he is the Managing Director of Brooklands Exports Private Limited, which he established on his return to India from the United States,  Cherian is also  involved in Plantations and real estate development in his hometown  Kanjirapally and also in Coimbatore.
